Popup items and panebar items in ux3 shell?

Hi,

I am using ux3 shell control build an application.

In it, currently the panebar items allow only sap.ui.items controls to be added which allows me to add only the text in the panebar items. I nee to add the icons instead of text. Please tell me it is possible.

And, the toolpopups on the left hand side doesn't gives me the press event of the popups and we are bound to open a popup on click of it. I want to do some other functionality on click of it and not open a popup.

Please help....immediate requirement.
