But the components that you are talking about .
1 .SAP ESS 603
2. SAP MSS 600
3. SAP ASR 600
4. SAP PSS 600
Are not compatible with NW7.3 or NW 7.4.

I had a system that was at EHp6/NW 7.02 with ESS and MSS installed on the portal. I tried to upgrade it to EHp7 and got a stack for backend (EHp6---> EHp7) and the solman created the dependency for the portal and generated the stack (NW 7.02 --> NW7.4).
But in your case you want to get only the portal upgraded so you need to configure the Backend and the portal correctly in SOLMAN and then try to generate the stack for Portal system with the upgrade option and see what happens.
