An Organisation has recently asked for help regarding their cost element number structure and I wonder if anybody has had a similar experience.
The Organisation implemented SAP some 15 years ago and have a 3 digit GL Account/Cost Element number. After many re-structures and business changes over the years this number structure is not sufficient. They would like to move to a more 'standard' structure of say 6 digits to give them increased flexibility with reporting etc.
Has anybody out had a similar experience and if so are you willing to share the approach taken?
